One of the leading cognitive development programs available. Based on ideas formulated at leading universities and on Swiss education boards, a Multiple-Intelligence program that provides a challenging and supportive educational environment that incorporates diverse learning methods. Educational programs are based on the theory of multiple intelligence, the idea that children learn in different ways depending on their individual combination of abilities and affinities. All of our programs encourage children to develop their own unique gifts and talents. The greater self-knowledge that inspires positive change in the individual, and through him or her, in the community.

What distinguishes it from other after-school programs?

  • free courses that enrich children’s lives
  • a diverse curriculum that appeals to growing minds
  • the latest developments in education in the United States and abroad
  • self-exploratory programs that are primarily guided by the individual
  • highly relevant life-skills workshops
  • collaboration with several of the world’s elite universities
  • a grass-roots approach to working with local communities

The first program created to attack risk poor educational outcomes in disadvantaged children. Initially, children explore the full range of the Spectrum curriculum for up to eight months, after which they specialize in a field of their choice for the remaining three-year period. Our creative, collaborative, hands-on approach to learning focuses on four areas:

  1. Logical-Mathematical,
  2. Visual-Spatial,
  3. Linguistic-Communications,
  4. Music-Sound.

Under the supervision of a volunteer mentor, children create individual projects in one of the following program areas:

Technik (Logical-Mathematical phase)

ddESIGN (differentialdESIGN) (Visual-Spatial)

LaPlace (Linguistic-Communications)

Octav (Music-Sound)

We hold a more egalitarian or comprehensive view that every child has a gift or combined gifts. In other words, all individuals are gifted in some way. Spectrum is a mostly constructive program centered around disadvantaged children for whom the odds of reaching higher education is against them. Traditionally, MI based programs have been used in private schools for the wealthy or overseas in foreign nations. We have now adopted a similar approach for children from at-risk backgrounds. Spectrum focuses on children developing real- world functional skills and exposes them to over 50 different career manifestations. Adopting an approach helps us achieve four tenets:

  1. diversifies instruction,
  2. serves as a tool for children to understand themselves,
  3. helps bridge traditional study of difficult concepts,
  4. validates natural talents early in a child’s life.

Very much a hands-on, research educational curriculum that is driven both by children’s interest and their natural competencies. There are goals for children to reach while they participate in selected phases. By providing a mostly self-guided program, we believe children maintain better focus because they are following their own interests. This self-driven process is already improving outcomes because it:

  1. challenges creativity instinct in children as they explore new realms of information,
  2. help them connect present project choices, actions, and decisions to long-term consequences or outcomes,
  3. mphasize project questions that require problem solving and decision-making.
